Aim of This Website
This site is firmly against speculation: it aims to be as factual and as down to earth as possible (hence the name: Jeremy Brett Information). The goal of this site is to present a fair and ultimately balanced view of Jeremy Brett. I very much wish to preserve and protect Jeremy's legacy - without a need or wish to fictionalise him. JBINFO strongly recommends not 'assuming' anything. Read, consider, and make your own informed decisions.
Further to this effect: the fact file page has been updated to show more detailed reference sources (and more can be supplied upon request - where, for the sake of aesthetic page continuity, a source has not been mentioned).
Jeremy led an emotionally rich and ultimately fulfilling life: this website is a celebration of that.
Matters of Discretion
In recent years there have been some books about Jeremy Brett of an intrusive nature concerning the deterioration of Jeremy’s mental and physical health; and the suffering these problems subsequently caused, not giving Jeremy the respect and dignity he, and his family, richly deserve ...
As a man’s mental state is surely the most private matter of all this site will refrain from publishing anything which would have caused great embarrassment to such a sensitive and private man. No more will be said than Jeremy personally admited to publicly - in most cases - unless otherwise deemed appropriate.
JBINFO will not touch too heavily on Jeremy Brett’s struggles with physical illness in any explicit detail. Jeremy tried desperately to hide, and actively played down, his own physical suffering; in order to prevent unnecessary anguish to friends and family (as well as his many fans). This being so, when Jeremy's physical decline is mentioned on JBINFO it will be within context: to show how positive and determined a man Jeremy was, for example.
If you want to read about Jeremy’s Herculean battles with Bipolar and Heart Disease - in a constructive and respectful manner - I highly recommend: Dancing in the Moonlight, Jeremy Brett - A Celebration by David Stuart Davies. Sometimes it can be found on ebay for much less than it is on other websites! It's a beautiful book: which was made possible with the help of Mr Henry Russell, on behalf of the MDF BiPolar Organisation.
Why mention Jeremy's sexuality?
While I strongly condemn anyone being forced into making their sexuality public knowledge; information about Jeremy's sexuality, and his relationships, is readily available. Jeremy was outed publicly by friends, family, work colleagues, and numerous other sources, after his death. That information is not going to go away, and now it is here, why should it. Something cannot be slanderous if it is true, it can only be slanderous to those that do not want to believe it to be true. These unreasonable people have caused countless fights in their dogged determination to keep Jeremy's sexuality quiet - leaving many fans hurt and intimidated. This noisy obsessive minority are a bad reflection on Jeremy Brett - they do not represent him nor his personal feelings about his sexuality - and they do not give any honour to his memory.
When Jeremy's homosexual relationships are covered up so desperately and so aggressively by certain people, it leads to trollingby those that do not like Jeremy, and it also leads to destructive and callous rumours; because some people are lead to the ominous conclusion that there must be more to the matter than meets the eye. There isn't.
I have presented the matter of Gary Bond and Jeremy Brett's relationship with dignity and with respect (to both of them). In doing so, I have normalised the matter by including Jeremy's relationship with Gary like I would any other important romantic relationship J.B had: when matters are treated as normal, they become normal in peoples eyes; this eliminates the reason to "cover up". I have tried to show in my writings that even if one considers a gay relationship to be abnormal or sinful (not my personal point of view, it has to be said!), they can at least - hopefully - understand that the LOVE Jeremy and Gary's felt for each other was real, honest and beautiful.

Thoughts on Jeremy Brett ...
I can’t pay Jeremy a greater tribute than to say I have noticed how he has brought many people together (bringing about new friendships, even romantic love). He has also helped many mentally vulnerable people feel comfort and inspiration (even stopped some killing themselves!). He has done all this while being dead, quite something it has to be said. I think Jeremy causes these wonderful things because he was a caring and very feeling person, and people see this in his eyes, in his radiant smile, and hear it in his distinctive and charming voice.
Some say that we are all merely machines, that all our feelings, thoughts, hopes and desires are just a tricky of human chemistry. These learned men believe that we don't really love in the way we think we do and all we do is done for our own survival. They believe we come from nothing and we go back to nothing. But when I look at Jeremy Brett I can’t help but think that these scientific and physiological explanations for the human condition are utter nonsense. There was a soul in those tender and sparkling eyes. Souls can not ever truly die.

Diane started the The Jeremy Brett Archive site in May 2007 as a small, virtual scrapbook for Jeremy Brett. But soon Jeremy captivated her and she started collecting items for The Jeremy Brett Archive, especially about Jeremy's acting career.
In 2010 Diane decided she no longer wanted to continue with the website, and asked if anyone wished to take over, rather than see the site's sad demise. It was at this point that I decided I would very much like to be the new site owner - as I was already planning a comprehensive Jeremy Brett website, which I hoped to launch in 2011.
I took over www.jeremybrett.info in the winter of 2010 with some big plans for explanation; having purchased considerable website space in order for the site to grow. The rest, as they say, is history.
