An
Evening with Alan Jay Lerner
27 March, 1988
Role: Performer
A biography of the veteran producer/director Hugh Wooldridge
explains that Wooldridge first directed and co-produced An
Evening with Alan Jay Lerner at the Theatre Royal, Drury
Lane, London, with Placido Domingo and a host of stars. That
performance raised funds for Cancer Research and is available on
CD.
The event was remounted in March 1988 at the Opera House,
Manchester, with Richard Harris headlining the roster of stars.
And, according to the poster pictured at right, Jeremy Brett was
one of the "twinklers" among the stars. Alan Jay Lerner had
written the book and lyrics to
My Fair Lady, so we hope
Jeremy finally got a chance to give Freddy his voice!
